This CBC compilation features two great songs from Cindy Church and a tune from the Backline Orchestra - a band made up of a bunch of great Calgary players. It should be noted that Les Seminuk handled the recording of the Calgary tracks on the Coast to Coast compilations... and also the Sprit of the West track on here, for some odd reason. [i]From the liner notes:[/i] Cindy Church is from Longview Alberta, just outside Calgary. Formerly with the Chinook Arch Riders, lan Tyson's back-up band, Cindy and Nathan Tinkham her guitar player, are now pursuing other interests. For this record Cindy took two classic country tunes, gave them a swing beat, and the result is Country Crossover, Cindy Church style. Calgary's Backline Orchestra have been creating and performing their unique blend of country, R & B, and Reggae for more than a decade. The group is Gary Bird, Guitar... Ron Casat, Keyboards and Vocals... Bill Eaglesham, Bass... and Ray MacAndrew, Drums. While all four pursue independent musical careers, The Backline Orchestra continues to be an outlet for their creative endeavours.
