Now, THIS is a Stampede record. There's a bit of debate in the office if we should list this by the title on Discogs (and on the back cover - "Ernie McCulloch Sings") or the more verbose title on the front, "Ernie McCulloch of Calgary Dedicates Yodels and Ballads to the Cowboys of the Stampede." We're kind of annoyed at the Cowboys corporation for taking over the skate park to put up a big party tent for the 2025 Stampede, and yes we know that's not the Cowboys Ernie was thinking of when he titled this record, but we're reading this through a modern lens and so well we're going with the Discogs title. That more verbose title is actually a very apt description of what's on this LP - McCulloch plays a mix of five ballads and 5 yodels - all written by his mother. He's backed up by a great band that includes the Reimer sisters and Al Owchar, resulting in an excellent and highly enjoyable old time country record. Of note, every copy of this LP we've ever come across has been in pretty rough condition. We've tried to reduce the clicks and pops - we think the ones that are left behind add character to this.
