This 1998 CD brought together two great of the blues, local Calgary favourite Tim Williams and Winnipeg's Big Dave McLean. This is a stripped down, acoustic disc of blues numbers penned by Williams, McLeans and other blues legends . From the liner notes: About The Artists Big Dave McLean and Tim Williams possess between them more than six decades of performing and recording experience, having both been initially inspired by the first- generation country bluesmen "re-discovered" during the '60s folk music revival. Dave (in Winnipeg) and Tim (in Southern California) both made early transitions from fan to artist each was soon sharing club, concert and festival stages with the very heroes who had drawn them to the music. Dave has appeared with Muddy Waters, Bukka White, Sam Chatmon, Roosevelt Sykes, Dave Van Ronk and others; Tim has shared stages with Lightnin' Hopkins, Jesse Fuller, Mississippi Fred MacDowell, B. B. King, and more; each of them have appeared with John Hammond, Johnny Shines, Dave "Honeyboy" Edwards...the list goes on and on. About The Recording The music on this disc was recorded absolutely acoustic (nothing plugged in except the microphones) and without over-dubs...the sound of an honest, one-on-one musical conversation between two of Canada's finest acoustic blues musicians...Fellow Travelers on the highway heading to the heart of the blues. About The Instruments The majority of the instruments on this recording are vintage pieces from the pre-war makers patronized by the early blues artists. Big Dave used a ca. 1910 Sears parlor guitar, a 1932 National resonator guitar, and Hohner harmonicas. Tim played two Stella parlor guitars (one pre-WW I, the other ca. 1925), a Stella mandolin ca. 1939, a Windsor banjo-guitar ca. 1905, a '70s Yamaki 12-string guitar, and a Johnson resonator guitar.
