We tried to find info about Bruce Kiely and the only references we found were in relation to him writing a song for and playing in a band with Kathy Hanna in 1971. Update! Bruce got in touch with us to fill in some of the details on this single:
If memory serves, PLP was owned/funded by a gentleman named Paul Palaschuk. Recording was done at Sound West Studio which was owned/operated by Peter Bentley. Sound West was housed in an old church on 16th Avenue NW in Calgary, a few blocks west of Center Street N. Doug Wong was in charge of Artists and Repertoire, and Publishing. Richard Harrow (2-time Juno award winner) was the house engineer.

About the record... Doug Wong was absolutely THE key figure. Doug had prior managed my acoustic trio Rainmaker and was thus familiar with me and my original material. Doug had me come in to Sound West to do a demo which he then presented to PLP and convinced them to fund the project. Richard Harrow put together the musicians.

The record was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Sound West per the following details...

A-Side HELLO CAROL
[ml][ul][ul data=1][li indent=1 align=left]Bruce Kiely: composer, lead vocal, acoustic guitar, electric lead guitar [/li][li indent=1 align=left]Doug Wong: co-producer[/li][li indent=1 align=left]Richard Harrow: co-producer, engineer [/li][li indent=1 align=left]John Dunn: drums, harmony vocals [/li][li indent=1 align=left]Julian Kerr: bass, keyboards, harmony vocals[/li][li indent=1 align=left]Bruce Innes: harmony vocals [/li][/ul][/ul][/ml]
B-Side END OF THE HIGHWAY, same personnel except...
[ml][ul][ul data=1][li indent=1 align=left]Murray Walker: composer[/li][li indent=1 align=left]Ricard Harrow: electric guitar (in addition to co-producer/engineer of course)[/li][li indent=1 align=left]Bruce Innes did not contribute to the B-Side [/li][/ul][/ul][/ml]
