The English language is full of many joys - such as the word "live" in the context of this CD. Is it "live" as in, "Pussy Monster recorded this CD live in Japan" or is it "Pussy Monster are fed up with life in Calgary and would much rather live in Japan"? We suspect it's the latter, both from the liner notes and the fact that this CD is devoid of any crowd noises. We can't fault them for wanting to live in Japan, though - Gene Poole was in Japan last year and is still complaining about the price and availability of onigiri here. This CD (released over ten years after Pussy Monster blew our eardrums out with their Smokeshow 7") is everything we hoped it would be - ten tracks of gritty rock, with Val's voice in full snarl sweetly balanced by Jean Choe's bubblegum backups. The highlight for us on this is the very excellent "Confessions," and the re-recorded version of "Smokeshow" is the cherry on top.
