We were thinking about Allen Baekeland (as we often do - his death was a big loss for all of us at the CCPS), and we realized we hadn't posted the two tracks he released on a pair of Ontario-centric compilations in the early 90's. We can't remember what the exact deal was with these Moose compilations, but we're thankful that they helped get these two of Allen's songs out into the world. Curiously, they're both booze-themed tunes, with backup on "Drinkin' Ex and Askin' Why" from the Lost and Profound gang (who also appear on the comps). "No Answers In the Bottle" is a nice preview of the upbeat honky-tonk Allen would go on to play with folks like Tom Phillips. We love both of these tunes a lot - and really miss Allen.
