The Calgary Fiddlers have been putting out regular recordings to showcase the skill and talent of the group; this one from 2004 includes country, pop, and folk selections. From the liner notes: THE CALGARY FIDDLERS Since the formation of The Calgary Fiddlers in 1981, this highly skilled group of amateur musicians, ranging from 12 to 18 years of age, has performed for live audiences, television and radio broadcasts, and concert tours. Performing at over165 events in and around the Calgary area for various fundraisers and corporate events while still attending school full time, these dynamic young musicians have impressed and amazed audiences of all ages. During the past years the group has toured extensively throughout Scotland, Florida, Kansas, Iowa, Montana, Minnesota, Maui, and Ontario in addition to being sent by the Alberta and Canadian Governments as ambassadors of Calgary in Korea, Los Angeles, Monte Carlo and Monaco. The Fiddlers have also had the privilege of performing for dignitaries such as H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, and the President of Yemen. THE BOW VALLEY FIDDLERS In September of 1993, the Calgary Fiddlers Association established a 'farm team' called the Bow Valley Fiddlers, to give younger fiddlers some performance experience, with an overview of fiddling styles. Prior to joining the Bow Valley Fiddlers, the majority of students have had two to four years of private training on the violin. The Bow Valley program has grown by leaps and bounds during the past few years, and at present, there are six full classes of Bow Valley students. The groups perform all around Calgary and area, for special events, senior's homes and music festivals.
