We don't have a lot more to say about the Wild Rose All-Stars that we haven't noted before - so we'll defer to the liner notes on this super fun CD: Dixieland Jazz is widely regarded as one of the most accessible and cheerful forms of popular music. Since its creation in the South, Dixieland has been a vibrant part of musical culture. Why is this music still going strong? Because it is fun! Nowhere is this more evident than at one of the many traditional jazz festivals that are alive and well across the U.S. and Canada where fans of all age, fully immersed in the music, are having the time of their lives. The Wild Rose All-Stars are very much a part of this phenomena. Formed in 1984 in Calgary, this group has been performing and promoting traditional jazz on both sides of the border, both in night clubs and at jazz festivals. Over the past decade and a half, Wild Rose has become renown as a group who embrace the Dixieland spirit, combining strong musicianship with a healthy sense of fun. The members of Wild Rose, though they come from a variety of musical back grounds, all share a common element: Energy. Whenever they perform, this energy shines forth to engulf the entire audience making the whole room pulse with the joy of the music. Wild Rose entered the recording studio to capture the vibrancy of a jazz festival concert on disc. All the songs were recorded "live, off the floor" and were mostly first takes. The result combines the energy and spontaneity of a live show with the clean sound of a recording studio. This album is dedicated to Pat Barlow.
